Overview

The Manager – Component Sourcing & Warranty oversees the procurement of gemstones and components, executes vendor strategies from the Director of Product Development and leads or supports price negotiations. The role manages staff through training, mentoring, and task assignments to meet goals, collaborating with Product Development and HSM Thailand to improve efficiency, quality, and cost. This role also monitors vendor performance, pricing, and delivery to maintain and grow supply sources that meet company standards and objectives.

Responsibilities

Component Sourcing & Procurement

  • Direct demand reporting for gemstone components; set inventory minimum/maximums with Buy Planner.
  • Maintain communication with suppliers, including HSM, on order, color standards and product movement.
  • Partner with Assistant Manager – Gemstone Procurement to issue purchase orders, select vendors per Product Development strategy, and negotiate costs.
  • Track open orders, coordinate delivery schedules, and ensure lead times are met.
  • Research and recommend new components and suppliers twice yearly.

 

Supplier Management & Quality Control

  • Train teams in grading, sorting, and quality standards; ensure correct invoicing and acceptable rejection rates.
  • Communicate rejections with reason codes to vendors and prevent repeat issues.
  • Assess vendor capabilities; maintain performance data, KPIs, and conduct biannual evaluations.

 

Warranty Services

  • Oversee warranty repairs for timeliness and quality.
  • Partner with vendors and internal teams to resolve issues promptly.
  • Analyze trends to improve product quality and reduce warranty claims

 

Strategic & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Resolve price, quality, delivery, or invoicing issues.
  • Serve as liaison between suppliers and internal teams.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor strategies, and supplier capabilities.
  • Conduct cost analyses, support cost-reduction initiatives, and ensure compliance with policies and NDAs.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience gemstone sourcing and/or purchasing. Gemological certification is preferred.
  • 1+ years of successful vendor management experience.
  • 1+ years experience in implementing processes, eliminating waste and expediting through put.
  • Working understanding of warranty programs and processes, preferred.
  • Excellent time management, organizational skills, and great follow-through.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Analytical, numerically astute with strong demonstrated problem-solving abilities.
  • Able to multitask, work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
  • Capability to work cross functionally across a large organization.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Intermediate ability in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point.
  • Familiarity with an integrated Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system and/or Material Requirements Planning (MRP).
  • Demonstrated ability to engage interest and participation of others and has a collaborative approach to working together. Proactively contributes to the team.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Possess excellent manual dexterity with small items.
  • Demonstrated ability to see and discern very minor details both to the naked eye and with the aid of magnification.
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and/or internationally as required.

The Manager – Component Sourcing & Warranty must be a forward-thinking and collaborative communicator with the ability to delegate tasks effectively. Work Environment

This role is an on-site part of the Home Office team. The primary environment for this role is an open office. Considerable business is conducted using telephone and computer technology. This role may be approved to work remotely on specific occasions but that does not change the ongoing classification of the role as on-site. Travel may be required to stores, conferences, events and, potentially, internationally less than 20% of the time.

Base Pay range for this role is $94,000 to $125,000/annually, which applies to this specific role. Your placement in the range is determined through interviews, a review of experience, knowledge, skills, balanced pay with other team members and alignment with geographic market data.  Home office base pay ranges are based on the Denver marketWe target most new hire offers toward the lower end of the listed range, but more demonstrated experience, knowledge and skills may result in a higher starting rate. 

 

Beyond Base Pay: Home office positions are eligible for consideration for an annual bonus, based on total company performanceAmounts vary by role and are based on a percentage of eligible earnings for the fiscal year.
